Director: HomeTown Productions says it works with Chamber, sells ads

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce is warning area businesses about a potential scam involving a company selling ads for a map.

According to Brittany Farris, Chamber director, a company called HomeTown Productions has been calling businesses and encouraging them to buy ads for a map project with the Chamber.

"This would be a scam," she said. "Spring Hill Press, located in Mt. Vernon, takes care of the Barry/Lawrence County map advertisements, and the Cassville Chamber is over the relocation guide, county and city map advertisements.

"Please keep an eye out for this company. If they call wanting to sell an ad, please decline and direct them to the Chamber office."

David Taylor, customer service manager at HomeTown Productions' corporate office, said the issue came down to a representative who did not understand there was no agreement with the Chamber.

"The representative was not following the script, and that employee was reprimanded," Taylor said. "We have also pulled all projects from Barry County, so there will be no more calls."

For more information of if anyone has questions, people may contact Farris at the Chamber at 417-847-2814.
