Wheaton man dies in wreck

Vehicle hits tree on Farm Road 1035

A Wheaton man died early Sunday morning in a wreck at 1:55 a.m on Farm Road 1035, five miles east of Wheaton.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Phoula Phomdouangsy, 32, of Wheaton, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord northbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a culvert, overturned and struck a tree.

Phomdouangsy was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:12 a.m. by Barry County Coroner Jim Fohn. He was transported to Fohn Funeral home in Cassville.

Phomdouangsy was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.

This is the 77th fatal wreck for Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
