Local school districts to hold supply drop-and-go events

Along with the usual disbelief that summer came and went so quickly, parents, teachers and students are going through the motions to get ready for another school year.

To help with that process, local school districts have provided the following information on enrollment, dates to drop off school supplies, meet the teacher and get familiar with their classroom and school which will be their home-away-from-home for the next year.

Cassville school district

The first day of school is Wednesday.

While they have been busy over the summer with plenty of administrative, maintenance and operational tasks to keep the school in tip-top shape, staff report they are ready for school to start and children to fill the hallways again.

"It is very quiet here during the summer months," said Jill LeCompte, Cassville assistant superintendent. "I am ready for the students to come back. They bring the excitement of seeing their friends, having new school supplies and meeting their new teachers to very quiet campuses. I know staff are looking forward to a new school year just as much as the children are."

Exeter Superintendent Ernest Raney said he is looking forward to a great year.

"We have many of our great teachers returning this year," he said. "We will also be implementing an initiative to support great teaching with technology. It is our goal to use Chromebooks as a tool in every classroom, which will enhance learning. Great instruction is the first and foremost of our concerns.

"Teachers make the largest impact on student learning. Therefore, our school district and community focuses on building relationships with students, parents, and community members."

Purdy school district

* The first day of school is Tuesday.

* An Open House event will be held Thursday, from 5-7 p.m.

"Families may also take care of last-minute obligations, such as re-enrollment, provision of immunizations and other required documentation, iPad registration and fee payment and transportation changes.

"As I prepare for my fifth year as superintendent, I am filled with anticipation and gratitude. We are ending an exciting summer filled with program changes, project completions and an overwhelmingly supported, successful bond issue. We are looking forward to seeing teachers and students fill the school for what we expect to be a fantastic year."
