Man's car hits towed unit in Hwy. 37 south of Purdy

An Exeter man died Tuesday after suffering a medical episode in his vehicle, also causing it to wreck, at 11:05 a.m. on Highway 37, one mile south of Purdy.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, James Lomax, 56, of Exeter, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck the towed unit of a 2016 Kentworth, being driven by Terry Warhurst, 43, of Corinth, Miss., then ran off the roadway and struck a road sign.

Lomax was pronounced dead at 12:02 at Cox Monett Hospital, with Dr. Jeremy Sturgell ruling it was due to a medical condition unrelated to the crash. Warhurt was not injured.

All involved were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles suffered minor damage.
