28-year-old MMA fighter charged with felony

A Cassville man and trained MMA fighter was charged on July 20 with assault following an alleged road rage incident on Highway 86 in Barry County.

Shane Beck, 28, of Cassville, is charged with first-degree assault, with serious physical injury, and is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $30,000.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Lt. Randy Kalbaugh, with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place at Bruton's Marine in Golden. Kalbaugh said the victim was traveling on the highway when a brown Ford Bronco, traveling in the opposite direction and passing another vehicle, almost caused a head-on collision.

The victim turned around to get the license plate number of the Bronco. The vehicle stopped at Bruton's Marine and Beck, a trained MMA fighter according to Kalbaugh, allegedly exited the vehicle and punched the victim in the face several times.

A report from a family member of the victim later identified the victim allegedly suffered a severe concussion and damage to his left eye retina.

Beck has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.

  • It's only right to say somethin to both newspapers cause your both guilty of the same crap. Jus doin your job would be one thing but picking and choosing words and reports is quite another. I actually prefer the advertiser over this one that's why I stated my feelings on their page. Atleast they don't make us pay to read the alleged one sided police reports they publish as stories. #badday #newspaperrageover
