Cash-only bond of $200,000 set for alleged crimes
A Purdy man has been charged with four felonies and is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $200,000.
Benjamin Paine, 41, of Purdy is charged with two counts of first-degree domestic assault, felonious restraint and first-degree sodomy.
According to a probable cause report file by Clinton Clark, Wheaton police chief, Paine allegedly caused physical injury and held the victim against the victim's will at an apartment in the Blue Ridge Apartments. Paine also allegedly sodomized the victim, causing physical injury.
Also in the report are recommendations for charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, but official charges regarding those allegations have not been filed.
"The investigation concerning potential drug charges is still ongoing," said Amy Boxx, Barry County prosecutor. "The filing of additional charges has not yet been ruled out."
Paine did not have a court date set as of press time.
