Leroy Henry Schoon

Leroy Henry Schoon, 80, of Verona, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born May 20, 1936, in Pocahontas, Iowa, the son of Henry and Gertie (Dewall) Schoon. In 1955, he was united in marriage to Beryl Wickre. Survivors include: three sons, Ray Schoon and his wife, Debbie, Dennis Schoon and his wife, Roneen, and Bruce Schoon and his wife, Lisa, all of Monett; two daughters, Christine Miller, of Independence, and Sandy Campbell and her husband Jeff, of Monett; two sisters, Louise Hohensee and Margaret Ricklefs, both of Monett; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Doris Ahlrich and her husband Bob and one brother-in-law, Lester Hohensee.

He grew up and received his education in Iowa graduating from Pocahontas High School. In 1978, he moved from Iowa to Missouri to make his home. He was a farmer, raising hogs and was a caterer throughout the Ozarks.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Family Worship Center in Aurora (across from Braums) with Rev. Arnold Ray Evans presiding. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
