Vehicle was unoccupied, rolled down driveway

A Shell Knob woman died Thursday afternoon when an unoccupied vehicle parked in a driveway began to roll away.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a 2001 Dodge Dakota Sports 4X4 parked in a driveway at 26595 Villa Vinee Circle in Shell Knob rolled backwards down a driveway and collided into Judith Betts, 77, of Shell Knob, then continued rolling onto Villa Vinee Circle and struck Bobbie Harris, 68, of Shell Knob.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:45 p.m. by Barry County Deputy Coroner Becky Davison. Betts suffered minor injuries.

This is the 51st fatality for the year and second in June for Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
