Hwy. 97, Hwy. B getting attention from MoDOT

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be giving some attention to local highways in coming weeks.

According to the department, two projects will begin on the week of June 27. The projects will resurface, add shoulders and add rumble strips to the selected areas.

Work will be done on Highway 97, between Interstate 44 west of Mt. Vernon and Highway 86 east of Fairview, as well as on Highway B, between Highway 97 and Highway 37 in Purdy.

Drivers should obey flaggers and wait for and follow pilot cars through the work zones.

The $2.5 million contract for the work was awarded to Blevins Asphalt Construction Company, based in Mt. Vernon. The completion date is set for Oct. 1, 2016, but Blevins expects to have it done by late July.

For more information bout the project, people may call MoDOT at 417-895-7600, or visit modot.org/southwest.
