Cobb to lead Cassville baseball team
New coach won a gold glove at Evangel University
It did not take long for Cassville to select its next baseball coach.
Brandon Cobb, a graduate assistant at Evangel University, has been selected to lead the Wildcats for the 2016-2017 season.
"I'm excited for this great opportunity," Cobb said. "I've heard nothing but great things about Cassville and know that their program has a proud tradition. I hope to continue to build on that foundation."
Cobb, a 2011 graduate at Nixa High School, earned all-conference and all-district honors for the Eagles. He continued his college career at Evangel, where he was a two-time all-conference player and won a gold glove for his play in left field.
"I plan to bring my energy and hard work to Cassville," Cobb said. "My goal is to meet my players as quickly as possible and hopefully set a camp date to spend some time with them."
Cobb said this summer will be critical to any success the team will obtain next spring.
"Not knowing my players is the biggest obstacle I face right now," Cobb said. "My team will hustle every play, sprint down the baseline, play small ball and give me their best effort every day."
Cobb will also be asked to coach middle school football at Cassville, and he will teach health and physical education at the high school.
He will earn the base salary of $35,250, and for caching baseball, he will receive a 14 percent stipend, equaling $4,935.
