Rose takes 9th at state in javelin
Cassville track coach pleased with meet
Josi Rose, in her first season competing in javelin, took 9th at the state track meet in Jefferson City.
Rose hurled the spear 99-08 and missed a medal and all-state accolades by less than three inches.
"I was proud of all four athletes that were able to make it to state, and they all competed well," said Clay Weldy, Cassville coach. "All four return next year, so this experience should pay off and make them hungry to return to the state meet."
Audra Brooks, for the fourth meet in a row, recorded a personal record toss of 34-9.25. She finished 10th overall and missed the finals by just a half inch.
"Steven Hunter and Jordan Reed didn't have their best days," Weldy said about the javelin throwers. "But, they both competed hard, and I was proud of them for that."
Reed threw a distance of 117-04 and Hunter qualified with a toss of 98-10.
