Mercy welcomes new nurse practitioner
Bland available to see patients ages 12 and up
Mercy Clinic Family Medicine in Cassville recently announced a new addition to its medical team -- Nurse Practitioner Jessica Bland.
Bland is now seeing patients of the Cassville clinic, which is located at 92 Main Street.
According to Vicki Punch, practice manager of the clinic, Bland replaces a nurse practitioner who left last summer, and she will help meet the scheduling needs of patients.
"We have been unable to meet the scheduling needs of our patients without the additional advanced practice nurse," Punch said. "We're thrilled to have her, and anticipate it will help a lot with patient access."
Punch said before Bland was hired, it was challenging to get patients in when needed.
"Before, we had trouble getting patients in the same day, but now, we should have the ability to book same-day appointments."
Bland said that although she has only been in her position a short time, she is settling in and enjoying interacting with her new patients.
"I've been here just over a month and I've already met some incredible patients," Bland said.
Originally from Rockford, Ill., Bland moved to the Show-Me State at a young age, and has a good working knowledge of Missourian patients.
"Eventually, I had the pleasure of doing clinical rotations at Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem, where I got some valuable critical access experience," Bland said. "However, I did do most of my clinical in family medicine."
Bland received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Central Methodist University in 2013, and her master's in nursing, adult geriatric nurse practitioner, from Maryville University, last year. Now, she practices alongside Drs. Connie Butler and Jaime Zengotita at the Cassville clinic.
"My husband, Christopher, and I just moved here and we're really enjoying the area," Bland said.
In their free time, the family enjoys the great outdoors. "He likes to fish, and I love being anywhere near water, so being close to Table Rock Lake is also a huge plus."
Bland also enjoys the community.
"I'm really enjoying the people here," Bland said. "I see anyone 12 years old and up, so the variety is exciting. And having Mercy's support is fantastic. Everyone is welcoming, encouraging, and positive. I look forward to growing and learning alongside this team."
