Lucy Etta "Charlene" Barber was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles K. Barber and Clella Crete (Hesterlee) Barber.
She graduated high school at Cassville with the Class of 1950. She had worked at Standard Mutual Insurance Company of Cassville.
On Nov. 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Leon Laverne Paul of Washburn at the First Baptist Church of Cassville by Rev. O.V. Dodson.
She was a member of Washburn First Baptist Church. She had been a leader of Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, 4-H, Extension Council Member, represented Barry County in 1972 as a member of the Farm Family of the year.
Survivors include: one daughter, Connie Sue Hubrig and husband Bruce; four sons, David Lynn Paul, Robert Alan Paul and wife Michelle, Jerry Leon Paul and wife Yi Liu, all of Washburn and Dennis R. Paul of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leon L. Paul; her parents; and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Washburn First Baptist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Max Edmondson and Rev. Bob Gaddis will conduct the services. Burial will be at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
