Hewlett Floyd "H.F." Whisman

Hewlett Floyd "H.F." Whisman, 96, of San Diego, Calif., passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born on Oct. 11, 1919, son of Millard and Maude (James) Whisman, in Shell Knob. He received his education in Shell Knob and Cassville. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. When he got out of the Navy, he was employed by General Dynamics in San Diego, Calif.

Survivors include: three sons, Ronald Whisman, Richard Whisman, both of California, and Dennis Whisman, of Connecticut; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles "Chock" Whisman, of Shell Knob; and two sisters, Belva Pozek, of Holiday Island, Ark., and Willa Dean Swafford, of Cabool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; three brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Painter Cemetery in Shell Knob with Rick Epperly officiating.
