Purdy repeats district softball title

Lady Eagles win championship over Southwest, 6-1

The Purdy softball team took advantage of nearly every Southwest mistake to win the Class 1, District 10 softball title, 6-1, on Wednesday in Pierce City.

Andrea Humphrey's one-out, two-RBI double in the third lifted Purdy to a 3-0 advantage. Mikey Schad singled with two outs to increase the advantage to 4-0.

Lady Eagles pitcher Breanna Keeler retired the first 10 Lady Trojan batters before giving up a hit. She finished the game allowing five hits, one earned run and striking out seven.

Hallie Henderson slammed the door shut, earning a five-out save.

Purdy hosts Mt. Vernon on Monday in Class 1 sectional action. The game time has yet to be announced.
