Cassville runners prepare for conference meet May 5

The Cassville boys and girls track teams are moving full speed ahead into the Big 8 Conference meet on May 5.

The two squads are encouraged by a second-place boys finish and a fourth-place girls finish at their home meet.

"Overall, I was pleased with our team's performance at our home meet," said Clay Weldy, Cassville coach. "We were able to score points in most of the events and were able to medal in sprints, relays, jumps, throws and distance races. This has been our best performance as a team this season, and the best finish we've had since the Aurora Ice Box Relays."

* 800-meter run: Joby Paul

* Shot put: Satchel Hill

* Long jump: Austin Wilson

Second place

* 110-meter hurdles: Andrew Justus

* Javelin: Steven Hunter

* 4x100-meter relay: Garret Knight, Wilson, Shannon Haney and River Phelps

Third place

* 100-meter dash: Phelps

* 1,600-meter run: Paul

* 400-meter dash: Wilson

* 300-meter hurdles: Ryan Test

* Discus: Tyler Martin

* Javelin: Jordan Reed

* 4x200-meter relay: Knight, Wilson, Haney and Phelps

First place

* 4x200 relay: Mary Hennigan, Abbi Atkinson, Alondra Miller and Trinity Ewing

* 4x100 relay: Ewing, Atkinson, Brianna Hemphill and Miller

* Triple Jump: Hemphill

Second place

* 100-meter dash: Miller

* High jump: Hemphill

Third place

* 100 Hurdles: Ewing

* 300 Hurdles: Hemphill

* Javelin: Josi Rose

The Big 8 Conference meet will be held at East Newton this year.
