Cassville teens killed in wreck
Grief counselors available at district after sophomores' deaths
Two Cassville High School sophomores died Friday afternoon in a wreck on Highway 248, two miles west of Wheelerville.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Lawrence Dickson, 16, of Cassville, was driving a 2001 Ford F150 eastbound on Highway 248 at 4:13 p.m. when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.
Dickson and a passenger in the vehicle, his twin brother, Michael Dickson, 16, of Cassville, both were pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charles McManus. Both were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.
The brothers were sophomores at Cassville High School and were on their way to Branson for work.
"We provide that system of support as long as needed," said Richard Asbill, Cassville superintendent. "We will try to gauge what student and faculty needs are and adjust from there. They will be available the rest of the week, or even another week or two, based on the students' and teachers' needs."
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Family Life Center in Cassville, and the family will have a private service on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rocky Edmondson Park.
