Freddie "Fred" Dale Harris
Freddie "Fred" Dale Harris, 77, of Purdy, passed away in his home on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born on July 1, 1938, in Purdy, son of Jessie "Dick" and Dimple (Hughey) Harris. He was a 1956 graduate of Purdy High School. On April 29, 1961, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Adams; she preceded him in death on June 20, 2004. He worked for R&M Industries in Purdy, as an over-the-road truck driver. He later purchased his own truck and became owner/ operator of Fred Harris Trucking. He pastored churches in Washburn, Purdy, and at Merl's Chapel on Flat Creek from 1969 until his retirement.
Survivors include: three sons, Steve Harris and his wife, Cappy, of Cassville, David Harris and his wife, Susan, of Union City, Tenn., and Dennis Harris, of Purdy; one daughter, Christine Shepherd and her husband, Lee, of Butterfield; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gary Harris, of Purdy.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Harris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church of Purdy and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, with Pastor Russ Neil officiating with burial following at Purdy City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
