Mable "Charlene" White

Mable "Charlene" White, 65, of Monett, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

She was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Kansas City, the daughter of Cashes and Dorine (Beasley) Poore. On Jan. 25, 1969, she was united in marriage to Harold Portwood who preceded her in death on April 27, 1984. In 1994, she married James White who passed away in 2011. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and three sisters, JoAnn Snook, Cynthia Halstead and Linda Harmon.

Survivors include: three sons, Harold Portwood and his wife, Laura, of Pierce City, Mark Portwood, of Pierce City, and Joe Portwood and his wife, Brandi, of Branson; one brother, Cashes "Junior" Poore, of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Barbara Davis and her husband, Eddie, of Shell Knob, Velma Burdiss, of Granby, and Lilly Berry Arnold and her husband, Bob, of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She received her education in Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Kan.

She worked as a baker at Casey's General Store in Monett and attended The Gathering Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Bridgeway Assembly of God Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastors Justin Guffey and Brandon Tucker conducted the services. Burial was at Fields Cemetery, Shell Knob.
