John Richard Keeven
John Richard Keeven, 82, of Cassville, passed away in his home on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was born on June 1, 1933, in Clements, Kan., the son of John Malcom and Vida Veleta (Calvin) Keeven. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from service, he owned and operated Sears Monument Company in Omaha, Neb, for 25 years. On Aug. 22, 1978, he was united in marriage to Mary Rhoten in Blair, Neb. He later purchased First and Last Chance Saloon in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and operated it for 18 years before relocating to Cassville in 1993. He was a business entrepreneur purchasing several businesses to include Cedar Creek Golf Course in Shell Knob, Keeven's Roaring River Waterslide in Roaring River, and Memories Bar and Grill in Cassville.
Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Mary Keeven; five sons, Shawn Keeven and Johnny Rounds, both of Cassville, Herkey Rounds and his wife, Tami, of Magnolia, Iowa, Roger Rounds, of Monett, and Ricky Keeven and his wife, Rachel, of Springfield; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Honor Flight of the Ozarks and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, with Chaplain Clyde McClain officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and V.F.W. Post # 4207 of Monett.
