April is Public Health Month
Area residents can get well water test kits
In recognition of April's designation as Public Health Month, the Barry County Health Department will be offering private well water testing kits at a cost of $10.
Samples must be collected in the department-provided water test kit and be submitted to the office between Monday, April 4 and Wednesday, April 6.
Nursing staff will also conduct heart disease and stroke risk calculation, blood pressure checks and sexually transmitted disease testing throughout the month.
The nutritional program, "Make a Change," sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension, will be offered Tuesday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 12 at the Monett Health Department.
This free class is also being offered at the Cassville Health Department Wednesday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 13.
The program focuses on how to reduce fat, sugar and sodium and promotes the theme "Healthiest Nation 2030."
Also, the department will offer breastfeeding education to any mom interested in learning more about breastfeeding or those having any concerns.
Appointments can be made on Mondays and Tuesdays for the Monett office and on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the Cassville facility.
