2 injured in wreck on Hwy. 76

Unknown tractor trailer causes 3-car crash east of Cassville

Two people were injured Friday in a wreck at 6:10 p.m. on Highway 76, six miles east of Cassville.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, James Stephens, 63, of Cassville, was driving a 2003 Mercury Marauder westbound when an unknown tractor trailer forced his vehicle off the roadway. When it returned to the roadway, it crossed the center line and sidseswiped an eastbound 1989 Dodge 2500, being driven by Christopher Taylor, 38, of Purdy, then spun out and struck an eastbound 2006 Jeep Laredo, being driven by Taylor's wife, Sarah Taylor, 36, of Purdy.

Sarah Taylor suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Stephens suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Christopher Taylor was not injured.

It is unknown if Sarah Taylor or Stephens were wearing safety devices. Christopher Taylor was not. The Jeep and Mercury were totaled in the wreck, and the Dodge suffered minor damage.
