1,500 bags available to people in flood-prone areas

Dana Kammerlohr, Cassville police chief, has announced free sand bags are available at Cassville city hall for people in flood-prone areas.

Kammerlohr said the State and Federal Emergency Management Administrations have provided the city 1,500 bags, but people must find their own sand to fill them.

"We have not placed a limit on how many people can take," she said. "But, we ask that people only take what they need."

Kammerlohr said local lumber yards, gravel companies and Walmart may have sand available for filling the bags.

Barry County was under a flash flood watch until Thursday at noon. Now, the National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook saying there is limited flooding risk in the area through Thursday.
