4 vehicles involved in Hwy. 37 incident

Two people were injured in a four-vehicle wreck Thursday at 7:55 a.m. on Highway 37, one mile north of Purdy.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Larry McLeod, 66, of Purdy, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram northbound when he attempted to avoid a collision and struck a 2007 Hyundai Accent, being driven by Brittany Sanchez, 19, of Cassville. The collision caused Sanchez's vehicle to strike a 2001 Ford F150, being driven by Brett Rapien, 42, of Cassville. A 2015 Nissan Altima, being driven by Rebecca Bartlett, 57, of Garfield, Ark., attempted to avoid the other vehicles involved, ran off the roadway and was then struck by McLeod's vehicle.

Rapien suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cox Hospital in Monett. Bartlett also suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Cassville. McLeod and Sanchez were uninjured.

All involved were wearing safety devices. The Dodge suffered moderate damage, the Hyundai suffered extensive damage, the Ford suffered minor damage, and the Nissan was totaled.
