Rexford "Rex" L. Crumpler
Rexford "Rex" L. Crumpler, 88, passed away on Feb. 17, 2016. He was born on Aug. 13, 1927, son of Boyce and Dorothy (Hinnant) Crumpler, in Wilson County, N.C. After high school, he served as an apprenticeship at the Newport News shipyard as a tool and die maker. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, joining the Army Air Corp and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. On Oct. 17, 1975, he was united in marriage to Linda Brooks. Upon his discharge, he was a Civil Service employee with the Department of the United States Air Force and retired after 33 years of service. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville for the last 18 years.
Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Linda, of the home; five sons, Kenny Crumpler, of Louisville, Texas, Kevin Crumpler, of Tenino, Washington, Jeff Crumpler, of Cassville, Boyce Crumpler and his wife, Jodi, of Cassville, and Steven Crumpler and his wife Stephanie, of Exeter; one daughter, Karla Zinkand and her husband, David, of Cameron; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday at the White Funeral Home and Crematory in Cassville, with Pastor Brad Hudson and Pastor Pauline Evans officiating; burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery east of Cassville, with full military honors provided by Whiteman Air Force.
