Bill Galane Jones
Bill Galane Jones, 86, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, in Cassville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Floydada, Texas, the son of John A. and Eva Lena (Bennett) Jones, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, CW4 Derrell C. Jones and Alton DeWayne Jones.
On Oct. 4, 2002, in the Shell Knob Church of Christ Bill was united in marriage to Bonnie L Skinner, who survives. Additional survivors include: six sons, Danny Jones and his wife, Diana, of De Land, Fla., Dana Horton, of Grand Junction, Colo., Darrell Jones and his wife, Sharon, of Eureka Springs, Ark., Dale Jones and his wife, Kelda, of Mountain Home, Ark., DeWayne Jones, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Darwin Jones, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Diana Buck and her husband, Steve, of Greenville, Texas; one sister, Carol Jane Byers, of Buda, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He graduated high school in Claude, Texas, and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps until Nov. 21, 1951. He attended the Police Academy in Texas, serving as a police officer in Celeste, Texas. He then went on to become a Church of Christ minister.
He moved to the Golden and Eagle Rock area before moving to Shell Knob in 1994. He was a lifetime member of the Shell Knob VFW Post #2203.
Graveside services with military honors were held Tuesday in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
