Mary E. Vanzandt
Mary E. Vanzandt, 91, formerly of Seligman, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at the Cassville Healthcare & Rehab Center. She was born on May 3, 1924, daughter of Ralph and Nora (Vanzandt) Ebbert, in Seligman.
She graduated from Seligman High School and went on to attend Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield. In 1944, she was united in marriage to Wayne Vanzandt.
She began teaching at Measle Prairie Rural School in the mid-1940s and continued teaching for the next 42 years. After her retirement in 1985 she taught GED classes for 12 years, assisting many students in the area. She was a member of the Maple Grove Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary Vanzandt and his wife, Narissa, and Kenny Vanzandt and his wife, Becky, all of Seligman; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Iola Oakley, and two brothers, Early and Gene Ethridge.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at White Funeral Home & Crematory with Minister Ken West officiating. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery near Jacket, in McDonald County.
