Public is invited to learn more about topic

Senior Life Solutions, which is housed at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, will be hosting a suicide prevention seminar on Feb. 11 at the Cassville Branch Library.

Information presented in the seminar will focus on identifying and helping those struggling with suicidal thoughts. A question and answer session will follow.

"Senior Life Solutions has a goal of making mental health a more approachable issue," said Mercy Therapist Valerie Yarmouth, LCSW, with Senior Life Solutions. "Last year, we had two community trainings here at the hospital. Our training on depression took place in the spring, and grief and loss were presented in the fall of 2015. Our first training this year will be on suicide prevention.

"Our hope is to give useful guidance to those in attendance on how to assist friends and loved ones who have thoughts of suicide. The training is free and open to anyone who wishes to learn more about this topic. Prizes and drawings will also provide some pleasant interaction for those who attend."

The seminar begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. For more information, people may call 417-847-6042.
