Purdy, Cassville vie for title
Barry County bragging rights on the line at Galena
Barry County neighbors Purdy and Cassville square off at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in the championship of the Galena Tournament.
For the Lady Eagles, it will be their fourth game in five days as they bring a six-game winning streak into the tilt.
"Welcome to southwest Missouri basketball," said Eli Ernst, Purdy coach. "With the recent weather, our schedule this week is chaotic. I have the utmost respect for Coach [Chris] Shore and know he'll have his girls well-prepared for the game."
Ernst said the contest comes down to the little things.
"If we pay attention to the details like ball security and rebounding, we like our chances," he said. "Cassville has several athletes and they are not going to just hand us a title."
For the Lady Wildcats, they are looking to improve upon their pressure and energy.
"We won on Monday, but we didn't play as crisp as I wanted to," Shore said. "I don't think we have any pressure on us in the title. Purdy is the No. 1 seed and we are the No. 2 seed. We are just looking to make positive plays and play as mistake free as possible."
