David Compton, left middle, Barry County emergency management director, speaks with Jim Yost, left, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as Sheila Wilmer, right middle, from the Small Business Administration, speaks with Russ Nichols, Barry County emergency management deputy director. The group viewed flood damage in Barry and Lawrence counties, including some of the 20-plus businesses and 10-plus homes damaged in Cassville from flooding on Dec. 26 and 27, 2015. The group, which included a State Emergency Management Agency representative, is gathering figures to submit to Gov. Jay Nixon in hopes Barry County will qualify for individual assistance. FEMA and SEMA are scheduled to return later this week to assess damage for a possible public assistance declaration. Kyle Troutman editor@cassville-democrat.com
