Henry leaving McDonald County
Corey Henry, McDonald County football coach, announced on Thursday he is stepping down from his post and will leave the district at the end of the school year.
"I felt it was time for a change for me," Henry said. "I needed to get away from McDonald County."
A 2005 graduate of Afton High School in Afton, Okla., Henry said he is open to go anywhere, but will start looking closer to home first.
He spent four years in the McDonald County district. His first two seasons, he coached middle school football, and in his last two he was the Mustangs' high school coach.
He was 2-18 at the helm of a team loaded with freshmen and sophomore starters.
"I thought we were better and more competitive this season," Henry said. "We had a freshman quarterback and our leading rusher was a sophomore. The boys showed improvement and their future is bright."
