Benefit schedule for Jim Turner Friday

A benefit for Jim Turner and family has been scheduled for Friday from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Family Life Center in Cassville. The benefit will include a chili dinner, for which donations will be accepted, a bake sale and a silent auction.

Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist presenting Christmas program

The Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church youth will present a Christmas program, "The A.B.C.s of Christmas," on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. The program is directed by Fran Bolton. Eagle Rock Library hosting Christmas Adventure

The Eagle Rock Library would like patrons to grab their passports for a Christmas Adventure. On Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Rock Community Center, the library will start with a story for Mrs. Claus, then go to different stations for holiday crafts. There will also be several special guests for photo opportunities.

Animal hospital conducting toy drive

The Herrin Animal Hospital is conducting its 16th Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Staff will be collecting toys until Thursday. On Dec. 15, the hospital will host a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and give tours to those who bring an unwrapped toy. The new toys will be distributed by the Barry County Neighborhood Center to children in need. Santa Train Ride to benefit For the Kids

For the Kids Foster/Adoptive Parents Association is working, in conjunction with the Seligman Chamber of Commerce and A&M Railways, on a Santa Train Ride fundraiser. On Saturday there will be three separate times where people can purchase tickets and ride the train from Seligman to Exeter and back. Santa will be on the train to talk to the children and take pictures. Everyone will get a cup of cocoa and a cookie. The children, 12 and under, will each receive a goody bag. As part of the fundraising event, sponsors are needed, and there are four levels of sponsorship. Bronze, $50, is business name only; silver, $100, is the business name and either phone number or website; gold, $250, includes business name, address, phone number and website; and diamond, $500, includes business name, address, phone number and website. In addition, diamond sponsors receive a 10 percent off coupon good toward any of the 2016 excursions (January-September) with the A&M Railroad out of Springdale, Ark. Plus two first-class tickets for the Dec. 19 Santa Train Ride. All of the sponsorship money goes to For the Kids organization.
