Eagle Rock Library hosting Christmas Adventure

The Eagle Rock Library would like patrons to grab their passports for a Christmas Adventure. On Dec. 19, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Rock Community Center, the library will start with a story for Mrs. Claus, then go to different stations for holiday crafts. There will also be several special guests for photo opportunities.

USDA safety net coverage enrollment underway

Producers who chose coverage from the safety net programs established by the 2014 Farm Bill, known as the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs, can now visit Farm Service Agency county offices starting to sign contracts to enroll in coverage for 2016. The enrollment period will continue until Aug. 1, 2016. Producers are encouraged to contact their local FSA office to schedule an appointment to enroll. If a farm is not enrolled during the 2016 enrollment period, producers on that farm will not be eligible for financial assistance from the ARC or PLC programs should crop prices or farm revenues fall below the historical price or revenue benchmarks established by the program.

Seligman Chamber changing dance schedule

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce's dance nights will change starting in January. After the new year, there will be a dance every Saturday night except for the first Saturday of the month. The dance normally on the third Thursday of each month will move to the the first Thursday of each month. Three Hits and a Miss will alternate with Cheyenne Band for music, and Classic Country will perform at the Thursday night dances. All dances are from 7-10 p.m. at the Seligman Chamber Event Center on Highway 37. Admission is always $4 each, and attendees may bring snacks to share. No alcohol or smoking is allowed. All proceeds benefit the Event Center for maintenance and remodeling. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.

Animal hospital conducting toy drive

The Herrin Animal Hospital is conducting its 16th Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Staff will be collecting toys until Dec. 17. On Dec. 15, the hospital will host a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and give tours to those who bring an unwrapped toy. The new toys will be distributed by the Barry County Neighborhood Center to children in need. 4th Adult Ag Class scheduled at Cassville High School

The Cassville High School Agriculture Department will host the fourth Adult Agriculture Class of the year, "Create your Own Christmas Wreath," at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, moved from Dec. 7. Participants will learn the basics of creating wreaths. All supplies will be provided, unless people have extra items they wish to include. A $3 donation is appreciated to cover the cost of supplies. Santa Train Ride to benefit For the Kids

For the Kids Foster/Adoptive Parents Association is working, in conjunction with the Seligman Chamber of Commerce and A&M Railways, on a Santa Train Ride fundraiser. On Saturday, Dec. 19, there will be three separate times where people can purchase tickets and ride the train from Seligman to Exeter and back. Santa will be on the train to talk to the children and take pictures. Everyone will get a cup of cocoa and a cookie. The children, 12 and under, will each receive a goody bag. As part of the fundraising event, sponsors are needed, and there are four levels of sponsorship. Bronze, $50, is business name only; silver, $100, is the business name and either phone number or website; gold, $250, includes business name, address, phone number and website; and diamond, $500, includes business name, address, phone number and website. In addition, diamond sponsors receive a 10 percent off coupon good toward any of the 2016 excursions (January-September) with the A&M Railroad out of Springdale, Ark. Plus two first-class tickets for the Dec. 19 Santa Train Ride. All of the sponsorship money goes to For the Kids organization.
