John R. Hitchcock (Jack)

John R. Hitchcock (Jack), 83, of Cassville, passed away on Dec. 2, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Cassville. He was born on Sept. 14, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa son of John M. and Agatha (Summers) Hitchcock. He was a 1950 graduate of Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa, and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On Oct. 8, 1955, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Thornburg in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Cassville. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville.

Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Evelyn, of Cassville; four sons, John Michael Hitchcock and his wife Barb, of Des Moines, Iowa, David Anthony Hitchcock and his wife Debbie, of Port Orange, Fla., Douglas Raymond Hitchcock, of Rogers, Ark., and James Joseph Hitchcock and his wife Eva, of Rogers, Ark.; five daughters, Julie Ann Sedwick, of Pineville, Sandra Jean Nissen and her husband Nick, of Fairbury, Ill., Teresa Diane Garcia and her husband Richard, of Garland, Texas, Karen Lynnette Costanzo and her husband Jim, of Des Moines, and Kelly Marie Doke and her husband Jeff, of Des Moines; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. Edwards Catholic Church Building Fund and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.

Rosary was held Saturday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Rev. Paul McLoughlin, Celebrant; Funeral Mass will follow.

Inurnment with military honors provided by Offutt Air Force Base were held Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
