Mitchell Beeson: Where has the patriotism gone in America?
Attending a Veterans Day celebration, I thought about my five brothers in World War II.
Three of them were in combat, and I, too, am a veteran, but not a combat veteran, and there is a world of difference.
My heroes are combat veterans, and my superheroes are people like Johnny Graves of Cassville and Monty Harper of Palmdale, Calif., who gave the supreme sacrifice for our freedom.
It was disgusting to me to see spoiled brats at the University of Missouri protesting because someone said something that hurt their feelings. And, two wimps resigned instead of leading on, or near, Veterans Day.
Where has the patriotism gone in America?
I pray for the day when individual responsibility and patriotism return to the U.S. To do so, we must elect a Commander in Chief with leadership ability and love for the country, which is lacking today.
