Richard Dean Fortner
Richard Dean Fortner, 42, of Galena, son of Harold and Marilyn (Newman) Fortner, was born on March 15, 1973, in Aurora, and departed this life on Nov. 05, 2015, in Branson.
Richard was a lifelong resident of the area who worked maintenance at the First Baptist Church, Branson. He had a two-year diploma in Theology and would have earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Religion: Pastoral Counseling in March. He was an ordained Minister, and a member of American Association of Christian Counselors: Caring for People God's Way. Richard loved spending time with his wife and daughter more than anything. He played his guitars, loved to draw and read his Bible all the time. Richard was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with their dogs and cats.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Harold Fortner; brother, Danny Fortner; grandmother, Mary Lou Newman and nephew, Michael Asher.
Survivors include: his wife, Chrissy Fortner, of Galena; daughter, Adeline Fortner, of Galena; mother, Marilyn Fortner, of Cape Fair; two sisters, Shelia Asher, of Pierce City, and Teresa McAdoo, of Pierce City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in Stumpff Funeral Chapel-South, Kimberling City, with Mike Parker officiating. Burial was at Yocum Pond Cemetery, Reeds Spring, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home-South, Kimberling City.
