Barry County sees increase in property owners, bills
The property tax cycle for 2016, with payments due by Dec. 31, has started in Barry County.
With increased assessment valuations, county collectors anticipate even to higher revenues for the coming year.
Barry County Collector Janice Varner reported mailing 42,182 tax statements to property owners, an increase of 89 over the previous year.
Assessed valuations in Barry County rose by $5.3 million, or 2 percent, in 2015 for a new total of $339,715,603. Varner reported she has been charged with collecting $22,138,967.52 in taxes, an increase of $672,060.32.
Varner asked that Barry County property owners that have not received a tax statement by Nov. 15 to contact her office at 417-847-2113.
Payments can be made at her office in the historic Barry County Courthouse by cash, check, debit or credit card, though debit and credit card users will be charged a fee. Payments can also be made online at barrycountycollector.com, though a processing fee will also apply to those payments.
