Purdy Council changes roofing contractor
3-month delay prompts aldermen to approve switch
Frustrated with inaction, the Purdy City Council withdrew its contract with Three-Way Construction for replacing the metal roof on the Purdy Community Building.
According to Mayor Steve Roden, the winning bidder, who got the job in July, never showed up, and a company spokesman said they would get to it in a few months, due to a busy schedule.
Roden secured a quote for $9,200 from Gonzales Roofing, slightly over the $8,959.69 original bid. The price was close enough to satisfy aldermen, who approved the change.
Gonzales crews went to work immediately and had the metal roof replaced shortly after the city council meeting.
