Leona May Clapper
Leona May Clapper, 97, of Monett, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Lacoba Homes in Monett.
She was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Monett, daughter of the late Steve and Mary (Bertalot) Balmas. She was a member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. On May 12, 1938, in Pleasant Hope, she married Henry Anthony Clapper. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were: one daughter, Betty L. Young; one brother, Albert Balmas; and three sisters, Julia Barttrum, Florence Spain and Wilma Balmas. Survivors include: her son, Henry Clapper, and wife, Yung, of Galena; her daughter, Mary Fussell, of Verona; her sister, Lena Roberts, of Excelsior Springs; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vicki L. Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldensian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
