Howard John Anderson

Howard John Anderson, 85, of Shell Knob, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, in Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

He was born Aug. 15, 1930, in New York City, N.Y., the son of Oscar Alfred and Blanche W. (Johnson) Anderson. On Aug. 9, 1957, in Flint, Mich., he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Cupit, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Anderson, of Shell Knob; and two sons, Mike Anderson and his wife, Chesta, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Dave Anderson, of Kansas City.

He grew up and received his education in New York. From Sept. 2, 1947, to Aug. 1, 1953, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He retired from the United States Weather Bureau, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, in budget and finance. In 1986 he moved from Kansas City to Shell Knob to make his home.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 29 in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
