Cassville volleyball team slotted as the No. 6 seed in the 7-team field

The Cassville volleyball team is heading into the district tournament Monday, playing in the gym of a team it defeated on the same hardwood.

The Lady Wildcats, 5-16-2, earned the No. 6 seed in the Class 3, District 10 tournament. Monett's basketball gym will host the event this season.

Aurora (20-9-2) is the No. 1 seed, with Hollister (15-9-1) claiming the No. 2 spot. East Newton (11-8-3) was slotted as the No. 3 seed. The No. 4 seed went to Reeds Spring (13-14-2). Seneca (11-13-5) took the No. 5 seed, and Cassville (5-16-2) fell to the No. 6 seed. Monett (0-21) was seeded No. 7.

The Lady Houn' Dawgs earned a first-round bye and await the quarterfinal winner in the semifinal round.

Reeds Spring and Seneca open tournament play at 5 p.m. Monday, followed by Monett and Hollister, and a nightcap of East Newton and Cassville.

Aurora will play the Reeds Spring-Seneca winner on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the semifinal. The Hollister-Monett winner and East Newton-Cassville winner will battle in the other semifinal.

The championship is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m.
