Vehicle hits two signs on Hwy. 39 Monday

An Oklahoma woman suffered moderate injuries Monday in a wreck on Highway 39, seven miles south of Aurora.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Mary Lawless, 68, of Bartlesville, Okla., was driving a 2001 Dodge Intrepid southbound on Highway 39 when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the roadway, struck two Chevron signs and came to rest in a ditch.

Lawless suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

She was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle suffered extensive damage.

At 5:59 p.m., Lawless was arrested for charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain lane resulting in an accident, no insurance and failure to register a motor vehicle.
