Vehicle avoids animal in roadway, overturns

Two Cassville residents suffered injuries Friday in a wreck at 1:40 p.m on Highway U, four miles east of Butterfield.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Lisa Kalp, 51, of Cassville, was driving a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van eastbound on Highway U when she attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway, causing her vehicle to run off the roadway, strike a road sign and overturn, landing on its top.

Kalp suffered minor injuries, and a passenger in the vehicle, Cameron Johnson-Kalp, 19, of Cassville, suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to Cox Hospital in Monett.

Both were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.
