Mercy donates food

Mercy Hospital in Cassville recently held a food drive, donating 1,367 pounds of food to the United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Emily Jackson, executive assistant and auxiliary coordinator at Mercy Cassville, said for several years during the summer, the hospital has conducted the event, asking employees to donate food items over a six-week period. This year, they collected food from July 9 through Aug. 13. The total amount of food received is then weighed, and hospital administration make a donation by matching the weight at 20-cents-per-pound. Jackson said the hospital gave the pantry a check for $273.40 on Sept. 17.
