Eagle Rock man burglarizes vacant rental property

Man allegedly damages bathroom fixtures, steals tools

An Eagle Rock man has been charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and stealing after an incident at a vacant rental house in Eagle Rock.

According to a probable cause statement filed on Sept. 17 by the Barry County Sheriff's Department, Ryan Grissom, 31, of Eagle Rock, broke into a house on Farm Road 2280 in Eagle Rock on Sept. 16 at approximately 9:40 p.m.

Grissom allegedly broke out two closed glass windows located next to the front door to enter the property. It is unknown whether Grissom knew the property owner.

Once inside, Grissom allegedly broke the bathroom toilet, bathroom vanity and bathtub fixtures, causing the bathroom to flood, which resulted in estimated repair costs exceeding $750. Grissom then took a toolbox filled with hand tools and a voltage tester, estimated at $200. which belonged to the victim.

Mick Epperly, Barry County sheriff, said the disturbance prompted a neighbor to call the police, and Grissom was apprehended and arrested by Barry County Sheriff deputies on the scene while the burglary was still in process,.

Grissom is being held at the Barry County jail with a bond of $25,000. A disposition hearing has been set at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 29 in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
