Intruder attempted to steal cash from Jug-N-Plug, could not open register

Barry County sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for a person who allegedly broke into the Jug-N-Plug in Shell Knob in the early morning hours Thursday.

Mick Epperly, Barry County Sheriff, said there are no suspects as of yet, and deputies are working to identify the intruder.

"He was looking for cash and threw the register on the floor," he said. "He was wearing gloves and a mask, and the alarm went off, so he wasn't there for more than a minute or two."

Epperly said despite the burglar's attempts, the register did not open and the store is not reporting anything missing.

Epperly said anyone with information about the incident may call 417-847-6556, and tips may remain anonymous.
