Cassville Schools to celebrate Grandparents' Day

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

The Cassville School District will be celebrating Grandparents' Day with an open house for all grades from 9-10 a.m. Friday.

Grandparents will be shown their grandchild's classroom, where they can meet the teacher and their grandchild's classmates. Catherine Weaver, primary school principal; Eric White, intermediate school principal; Jim Barton, middle school principal; and Jeff Swadley, high school principal encourage all grandparents to attend the event.

Grandparents' Day is practically a tradition, as Richard Asbill, superintendent for Cassville Schools, said the district has been setting aside a day for the last 25 years or more to recognize the importance of having grandparents involved in their grandchildren's education.

"Grandparents' day is a great opportunity for the school, teachers and students to connect with our grandparents," Asbill said. "Grandparents are an important part of the educational process. They bring so much experience and life lessons that can be shared.

"Actually, one day for grandparents is not enough, if we put things in perspective, but it is nice to have them in and recognize their efforts."
