New Intermediate Music Teacher Shelby Long goes over classroom details with student Aileen Curbow, 9, of Cassville, who will be in the fourth grade this year. Curbow said she felt fortunate because Long was a teacher's assistant in her third-grade class last semester. Long was among the 23 new staff hired at the district. The hallways were packed with students and families who attended the event, which was designed to allow students the opportunity to meet their new teachers, find their classrooms, drop off supplies and get any questions answered before the first day of school.
