Shirley Ann Farwell Chaney

Shirley Ann Farwell Chaney was born in Cassville, on Nov. 15, 1925, to Floyd and Maco Messer Farwell. She died Aug. 11, 2015, in Cassville.

She graduated from Cassville High School and attended Jefferson City Junior College for one year.

Shirley married Norman O. Chaney on February 28, 1944, in Rogers, Ark.

Shirley loved her family, home and church and her home was always open to family and friends. She was a patient, gentle and loving person and was always humming and singing hymns.

Norman and Shirley were concessionaires at Roaring River State Park for nine years. She also worked at Barry County Abstract.

She was a lifelong member of Cassville United Methodist Church in Cassville, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a member of the choir and Loyal Lydias. She was also a member of the Silver Leaf Benefit Club.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her four children, Gary Chaney and his wife, Becky, of Wesley, Ark., Becky Henningson and her husband, Butch, and Lindy Gibson and her husband, Mike, all of Cassville, Mo., and Cindy Ledgerwood and her husband S.T. of Rogers, Ark.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Clay Chaney and his wife, Cheryl, Stephanie Chaney, Melanie Bryant and her husband, Marc, Jennifer Epperly and her husband, Kelley, Melissa Hickman and her husband, Jason, Andrea Sarratt and her husband, David, Jeffrey Gibson and his wife, Kim, and Megan Cox and her husband, Johnnie; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sue Fare, of Exeter, Mo., and two brothers-in-law, Junior Chaney and his wife, Jane, of Republic, Mo., and Bob Chaney, of Washougal, Wash.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in Cassville United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Jeffrey Gibson and Reverend Andy Lambel conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
