Trio facing drug-related charges after meth, marijuana found

Three Rocky Comfort residents were arrested Friday in connection with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Drug Task Force Officer Clinton Danforth and the Barry County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team conducted a drug-related search warrant on Friday in Rocky Comfort. According to Danforth, while conducting an officer safety pat down, Johnny Kimbrough, 61, of Rocky Comfort, was found to be in possession of a loaded black Taurus PT.22 22-caliber hand gun, as well as an orange pill bottle that contained a clear baggie with a measurable amount of a white crystal-like substance, from his right front pocket of his shorts.

Danforth said he also seized cut, red straws, two broken glass pipes, a set of digital black scales, several unused pink baggies and one light bulb from inside the residence, along with $560 dollars from Kimbrough's wallet.

The clear baggie from the orange pill bottle and the broken glass pipes and light bulb field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Kimbrough was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class B felony, and unlawful use of a weapon, a class D felony. He posted bond of $20,000 on Tuesday. A disposition hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.

Also arrested at the scene was Patty Roechanne Kimbrough, 57, of Rocky Comfort. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, and a disposition hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 25 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Robert Foulke. Kimbrough posted bond of $20,000 on Monday.

A third individual, Timothy S. Zempel, 42, of Rocky Comfort, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. Zempel was found to be in possession of misdemeanor amount of two baggies of marijuana. Zempel posted bond of $20,000 on Monday. He is scheduled to appear on Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.

A fourth individual present, Jennifer Allen, was released and faces no charges.
